I have read this book in German. It has very useful informations for
extension developers. It does not tell you everything, but it has
numbers on the side which will give you at http://typo3.org/buch a link
to the TYPO3 homepage with more detailed descriptions. The big advantage
is that the online links are continuously being updated. And there are
good step-by-step examples about how to write your own extensions with
the Extension Kickstarter.

This book is necessary if you want to learn how to develop extensions
with TYPO3. It would take too much time to search for relevant infos on
the Typo3.org homepage or with a search machine.

I have not yet read the parts of the books for non-developers.
