Hi Andrew,

Cool someone else alive on this group!

You've piqued my interest in TemplateViola. I haven't used it as yet, but
have taken an hour to skim over documentation for this extension. It seems
it's unfinished as yet, more so than many other parts of Typo3, yet it
looks impressive and will be used more and more.

I saw you'd posted to the main English Userlist (as opposed to the
Australia-UG) back on the 8th of June about including meta-tags. That's
probably the place for this query. However, you do seem well acquainted
with this plugin and you've already got to the point of doing remapping.

According to the documentation (
http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/doc_tut_ftb1/Modifying_a_formerly/
) changes can be made to the DS (Data Structure) of the TO (Template
Object) but one still loses the custom changes. If you are asking about
how not to lose those "custom modifications" I'm afraid the Tutorial
suggests that you can only edit the DS of the TO manually (which you've
already attempted).

However, if you just want to add a button (which is what they're kind of
suggestion in that tutorial) and don't care so much about "custom changes"
then the tutorial should help you.
