Problem:
The split view doesn't use StateProvider yet, therefore we always start 
with the slider-view and have to switch to hbox or vbox every time... 
same for the grid where settings aren't properly safed.

Solution:
Use the new provider.

Additional information:
As discussed in Skype this was committed to trunk (rev. 4175) and 4.5 
(rev. 4176).
