We currently do operate on a page basis - we update the page state when sending the content elements to review. To keep compatibility with the original workspace extension, we also set the state of the single elements. When switching from our workspace extension to the normal one, things will seem a bit messed at first (pages looking like they have been changed but are not) - but that will fix itself with time once the pages are published.

What we missed are clear CSS styles for the colors. We did have to copy the colors from the workspace source code (listed as TODO item in there). Mocking that out into a css would help us, and make the stuff themeable.

Apart from that, there is nothing that was so bad we had to work around it :)
A documentation on the workspace states would have helped.
