Maybe because its content was totally obsolete? I don't remember what 
was there, but I know there's a lot of obsolete content on typo3.org. 
Ben did a lot of cleanup, but AFAIK he mostly hid pages and did not 
delete them.

Anyway don't put too much effort into that since the new typo3.org is 
coming. Personally I had things to publish, but I was told to do it on 
the upcoming site and not on the current one.
