For me the extension manager is the init of all. The process 0.
I imagine a setup with the extension manager and one extension that
says: Hello world. No CMS, no config, no nothing.
I even can imagine to install java programms or perl or poems or books
with it without any TYPO3.
Thats why I think the extension manager should not be an extension
itself but simply a program that can run within the frames of the
backends or on its own.
To gain this flexibility it certainly shoulden't depend on other
libraries.
We could install a lot of other software with it and let it all
communicate through interfaces. XML or JSON or whatever.
That would be my vision for a time after 5.0.
