Hello,
for me news are the best way to organize discussions, mailing lists are
the secondbest. But there are many people who in practice prefer forumns.
There are already webforums for typo3 out there and new ones are in
discussion. Keeping the discussions in several systems makes it more
difficult to search it. Resources are getting lost.
There are programms that make it possible to access newslists and
mailinglists via a web interface. See google groups. They can give the
same look and feel of a forum to the user but serve the same information
pool as the lists. People could access the same information by news,
mail of web as they like.
The searchable mailing list archive has been removed of typo3.org
because of to much load. An active webinterface would need more server
resources. Obviously it wouldn't work on the typo3.org server. If it
would be provided as an extension, many people could build it in there
typo3 homepage, so that the load would be shared between many servers,
but it would still be the same information on news.netfielders.de.
typo3.org could provide a list to those servers.
How do you think about this?
Regards
Elmar
