So after my first post by a team member in this newsgroup ( ;) ) I'm
going to present myself shortly..
My name is Andreas Balzer, I'm 18 years old and I'm just in my final
school exams. Therefore I'll get my German Abitur in the next weeks.
I saw TYPO3 the first time about 4 to 5 years ago and decided to try it
about 3 years ago. At that specific day I uploaded TYPO3 to a local
server and was amazed by all the features and the thrilling possibilities.
Some months later I found the great community of TYPO3 and from that day
further on I got my schools headmaster to use TYPO3 on our schools
website www.ess-erfurt.de.
We decided to use TYPO3 after we just have created an own CMS but we
soon recognized that the difficult and sometimes frustrating migration
was worth it.
Well.. some months later I wanted to give something back to the
community, so I created some bug tracker, TYPO3 FE, BE and other
accounts. I started reporting bug reports, designing the official TYPO3
website banners, designing icons for various extensions, joined the hci
team, started to write an own extension (abcsstidy) and now I also
joined the TYPO3 skin team, because I guess I'll have a lot of time in
the following months and as my motto says "Carpe diem", I'm going to
seize each day as good as I can. So now I want to inspire people to
share and I think that some fresh winds in the official TYPO3 skin will
probably help us to find people like I was 5 years ago when I first saw
TYPO3 and was amazed by this cool (but technical) BE design in those days.
So yeah. That's me. :)
Here in my school I'm the leader of a group, so don't mind if I start
with some basic tasks for the beginning ;) (I'm not the team leader here
;) )
Ok.. I think we should find more people to join the team. As we have to
take care about the current skin of the 4.X branch (and all those new
features that will be integrated into) but we do also have to take care
about the comming TYPO3 5.X branch UI, which will be created completly
new by the hci team but should contain the typical TYPO3 signs.
Therefore my proposal is to find about 10 to 12 people that can be
splitted into 2 subteams. One is taking care about everything 4.X
related and one is going to work together with the 5.X branch. If we
have to do something urgent, we can let both teams work on that specific
problem..
Another task would be to check the new installer of TYPO3 4.2 that will
come in the next couple of months I guess. The hci team will check for
usuability but we should also try to see whether it has everything TYPO3
related it should have.. Imho the current mockups look great but can be
improved a little bit.
So.. To everyone welcome aboard :)
Andreas
