[TYPO3-ect] Development / Bugfixing for tt_news

Hi,
I have a patch for tt_news, contacted Rupert to merge it but no response 
since weeks.

I even made a gerrit patch to review but nobody there to merge it.

Can I be a Member of this project so that I can also merge bugfixes? I 
know tt_news is probably the most used extension but there are 57 open 
issues and nobody is doing something since 2014-04-06
