Hello list,
I began developing own translations in 2005 and changed in 2006 to lib/div
as it was this time to be the "right" method. Now we now it better. But
nearly every of my extension is based on lib/div.
I think we should not discuss if these extensions are obsolete or not as
there is a quite more important problem:
Lib/dib is not compatible to php5.3 and TYPO3 4.7 at the moment.
The issue with php5.3 is the call of "split" two times which causes
deprecating warnings. Ugly, but nor really a problem.
But lib/div contains calls to functions which will be removed in the final
TYPO3 version 4.7. And that IS a problem.
It is stated here that Elmar Hinz, the initial developer of lib and div, has
left the TYPO3 project long time ago, some years as I know. What and when
was the last contact with him?
I wrote an email to his former(?) email address, but didn't get any response
at all. Not even an error about an non-existant email address.
I'm currently working on new versions of lib and div to fix the mentioned
problems for my own. I'm nearly finished now.
So I suggest that I request a transfer of the extension keys of lib and div
to my account to be able to publish this new extension versions. But there
might be some better advices. So we should first collect and discuss them.
Greeting,
André Spindler
