_the correct way_: would be if all ext-devs would make checks which 
version is currently installed. checks for the PHP-part and thecks for 
the TS-part.

But nobody is doing this => we need to accept a compromise. And this is 
just possible with the extkey IMHO.

In general: This kind of "versioning" should be an exception in TYPO3-world.
