Without diving deeply into vim I would describe this opinion as a bit 
"special". You are not one of the guys fighting emacs as well? ;-)

Beside the fact that there are a lot of short cuts in Eclipse as you 
mentioned I think GUIs do have some advantages.
I won't argue with you if Eclipse is more or less productive for 
everyone because it is a personal thing how you work, what you are used 
to and so on.
But if we talk about "Integrated Development" and not just about coding 
I prefer to draw my UML diagrams and my GUIs (for stand alone 
applications) with a mouse.
I have to admit that I come from the java world where developing with 
vim can hardly be more productive than using an IDE even for you.

To sum it up I really admire people using vi(m) for anything. I couldn't 
do so. If I have to type something in the console I hope my good friend 
joe is there. :-)
