Hello Steffen and Elmar,

thanks for your thoughts about that.

Yes, I could do a little more parsing and put it in as first
PEAR-repository. In the moment I just add "pear/PEAR" at the end of the
path-string. Important is that something like "/usr/share/php" isn't
overwritten.

Here's my current setting:
.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear:/var/www/t34/typo3conf/pear/PEAR
