Do you work on linux?
If yes, check if the program "patch" is installed (which patch).
If yes, cd to "typo3/mod/tools/em".
Copy the "em_index.php.diff" to that location.
Run "patch class.em_index.php em_index.php.diff" in that location.
You should see 

> root at camlann:em# patch class.em_index.php em_index.php.diff
patching file class.em_index.php
> root at camlann:em# 

You are done. Reload the EM.
