I don't think we need to ask for advice as all of this has been asked 
before and can clearly be derived from the FSF statements.

No. MIT (X11) ist fully GPL-compatible.

Yes, that's practically the *only* thing that is required.

You could relicense it, but it does not make sense unless you modify the 
code and want your changes to be GPL only. If you distribute as-is there 
is no need for relicensing.
