Hi Ries,

let's assume your customer is very organized and want's to use the same
category system for 5 different applications/extensions. Currently you
need to set up this categories for each of the 5 extensions. That is the
first point.

Than you don't need to programm category trees for each of your
extensions, when you just need to call a common libray.

The last and maybe most important point is, that you can imagine
completly new kinds of applications having a common logical structure
available. My first idea is a search that transparently queries
different kinds of content tables, based on the selection of such a
category, i.e. tt_news and dam at the same time.

I think you can catch the idea now.
