It just thought that it might be nice to have this extension to work on 
"services" like "cal". So the same extension may show images from a 
special table, from DAM or directly from a directory. With "services" 
you can add eg titles to your images (using a special table), but don't 
need full-blown DAM, or you can also show off all what's in DAM and if 
you're in a hurry you can forget about all meta data and simply list a 
directory. With custom "services" you can even intergrate existing image 
collections.
