I had this idea myself and I think it would work. At the end of every
(security) review the extension could get a certificate, something that
communicates that this extension is "officially supported" or "meets the
TYPO3 standard".

I think to remember that there have been some plans of setting up some
kind of certification service. Was this bound to developers only or to
extensions / code? And do you know who is behind this or how the status is?
