I don't think Patrick's approach is to complex. It is a complete analysis
of all fields, where extension reviews and ratings are possible. It is a
good base to ask questions:
1.) Which of the proposals would run without additional payment of people
in form of money? To those I would give a green signal anyway.
2.) Which of those who need the investment of money to motivate people are
essential? I expect that a broad consense would result for payed security
reviews, but no further poing.
Now, if point 1.) and 2.) is done there will stay a rest. This rest will
probably consist of "extension reviews" and "extension comparism". From our
expirience this can't be done by the community. But we know that it will be
done by media like t3n that can make money with it and by agencies that
want to sell it.
Only from media like t3n we can expect a comparingly neutral position. Here
we should decide with whom we want to cooprate and what we can gain in
return. If you are missing english article, we should negotiate about
public english translations. T3N already has published englisch
translations, but not for extension reviews:
