Hya,
I think that Kasper's idea is promising - do many things as "extensions"
- - from a technical point of view. @Elmar, your idea would bloat the core
a lot - and I do not yet see what is wrong with extensions (especially
sysExts).
Btw if we continue these thoughts when a company wants to say the added
to the CORE, then they would next come and say "hey, we want an own
"Powered by ...." in the source code" for example. Of course that's very
exaggerated. The heart of core development, the core team itself, should
never be influenced by commercial interests - and that's the way it is
today and the way it should be IMHO.
Just my two cents.
Maybe, the "recommended by the association" is nice, but the question
would be how an extension could get this - if the company pays a review
and the extension is good, if the extension is reviewed (who does the
reviews?), if it just donates a certain amount of money...? So we have
the review problem again.
Greets, Sebastian
