[TYPO3-core] TYPO3 CMS 6.2 work-packages

Hi everybody...

... and finally welcome to a new year with new challenges! :)

Maybe you already stumbled over workpackages.org [0] - a website
dedicated for funding the remaining big stories for TYPO3 CMS 6.2 LTS
until the final release.

I'd like to share some background information with you to understand
where this initiative is originally coming from. Ernesto already
mentioned this sponsoring idea in the "What's next?" section of the
release notes of TYPO3 CMS 6.2 LTS beta3 [1].

Mathias Schreiber approached us during a Release Team Meeting during the
Communication Workshop in Altleiningen [2] and asked what needed to be
done to deliver 6.2 within a reasonable time-frame and with a level of
quality which stands up to the task of being a true LTS version.

He then began to work on a concept to raise the money necessary while
others contacted developers capable of the tasks involved in the work
packages.

Mathias is leaving for a rather long vacation this Thursday and thus had
to be pushy about launching the website, which is actually the result of
those ideas since November 2013 - to ensure that things get done until
the release of TYPO3 CMS 6.2 LTS end of March 2014.

The support and acceptance currently is really great! If you'd like to
support or participate as well, please get in contact with Ernesto
Baschny, Mathias Schreiber or Ingo Schmitt (he substitutes Mathias
during his vacation).

I hope this makes the process a bit more transparent...
