I have just tested this with a very simple case using questionable
methods and samples :) However the result sounds amazing: ~30-50% less
rendering time for a simple page with 6 content elements. Wow!

Can we disable sys_notes by default for new installations? Or is it a
killer feature you can't live without pre-enabled? Please share your
thoughts and experience on that.

I created an extension for download which ships a report module giving
some stats on sys_note usage:

This shall help you investigating sys_note usage on your systems without
fiddling around with Database queries or phpmyadmin.
