[TYPO3-core] Howto apply a partial commit to a stable branch subsequently

Hi.

I am doing some compatibility tests for 4.5 on PHP 5.4.

One issue I found was that some methods in t3lib_cache are not static.

This was fixed in master in 08/2011 so it is part of 4.7 and 4.6 branch,

In 4.5 this was never fixed.

Unfortunately the original patch fixed two issue at once, while only one
of them applies to 4.5.

How to proceed in this case?
Open a new issue for 4.5 only and add a relation to the original issue?
Or is it possible to apply only a subset of a changeset?
