[TYPO3-core] Working on Git submodules?

Thanks to all for the various explanations. I was able to achieve what I 
needed and commit my patch to both branches of the workspaces extension.

I have written down in the wiki what I felt was the relevant part of the 
information you provided:

Please correct and complete if needed. I thought it was worth having a 
page dedicated to submodules, since they require some different stuff.
