That's exactly what I wanted to try ;-)

It works fine. It creates a separate changeset straight from Gerrit that 
must then be approved. It prompts you for a commit message and I didn't 
exactly what was needed, so my commit message does not follow the proper 
format. I'll know better for next time.

So the change is reverted, the patches that I had started following this 
have been abandoned and the Forge issues have been cleaned up.
