Hi Benni,
I've modified your patch a little bit to make sure that even if 
$GLOBALS['TYPO3_CONF_VARS']['BE']['elementVersioningOnly'] is not set 
the default behavior (element versioning only) is kept and that vtypes 
only shows up if the user made an active decision.

Besides that +1 by reading and testing.
