Hi Helmut,

i understand your concerns. With the GSoC i choosed this "old style 
hook-like" system as it was a fast way to integrate the wizard, so the 
scope was more the pure functionality.

If someone come up with such refactor would be great, but i myself have 
no time yet to do this as i have several other tasks.

For the providers - i would leave these providers in core as they are 
the most used providers. We made a research about that.

Anyway it's possible to override the existing ones in an extension, so i 
see no problem.

At the end this is a great help for editors as they don't have to care 
about special syntax while integrating videos from these portals.
