However, there already is another patch for this bug in another thread. It 
is called "RFC: #8980: unlink of non existant lockfiles generates warnings 
in frontend". If you don't find it, just download some 100 more messages and 
search for "8980".

Steffen Gebert just today posted a reworked patch there.

Please continue that other thread to keep the discussion at one place and 
tell us, what you think!
