Hmm - still same error-message for me ...
but I tested, by patching manually and it works as expected:

so +1 by testing

Note 1:
'excludeXCLASScheck' => array('classes/hooks/'),
   is replaced by
'excludeXCLASScheck' => array( '0' => 'classes/hooks/' ),
   when "Update extension EM_CONF file" is executed

Note 2:
What about upload to TER:
Will TER filter this setting out ?
Is there a need to update the TER ?
