That's imho far too much fuss for this simple issue.

I'm +1 for just adding '/opt/local/bin' to the test array as Peter 
suggested: It's a rather common path on unix, there is no real reason to 
not add it to the check and it doesn't hurt. We should just check that 
it doesn't produce a warning if the path doesn't exists and then we're 
ready to go.
