Of course it's related to this RFC, but I think we got into a very bad 
habit recently of discussing follow-up to RFCs in the Core list, thus 
overloading it with a lot of noise.

So please move this discussion to the general dev list or to the v4 dev 
list. Also I would very much like follow-ups to be more strictly 
submitted as RFCs or FYIs, except for trivial changes.
