Not to start flame wars but I don't think it is anywhere in the rules. It does not make any difference to me as soon as the date is correct :) In fact, I do it in the opposite order: add newer patches after existing ones. It makes sense to me because it is natural sorting order (1, 2, 3 not 3, 2, 1).
