I'm not under the impression that ext_localconf.php isn't loaded in the FE.

OT: The whole ext_tables.php and ext_localconf.php is an ugly mixture of everything. There's too
much stuff that has nothihg to do with SQL tables (TCA), yet it has to be in ext_tables.php.

IMHO ext_tables.php should contain *only* database related definitions. Everything else should go
either into ext_localconf_be.php or ext_localconf_fe.php. Remains to be seen if ext_localconf.php is
to be called before or after them. Maybe an ext_localconf_common.php can be called too (before or
after depending when ext_localconf.php is called).
