I'd like to review this patch, but you are mixing up cleanups with
functional changes, especially in class.tslib_pagegen.php.

This makes it really hard to follow what actually happens.

Could you provide a clean and stripped down version with functional
changes only? Please take care of CGL for changed lines a bit more, no
empty lines with tabs, no Windows line endings, tabbed comments, etc?
