I remember working on that a long time ago and IIRC it was Ingmar who 
told me rebuilding wouldn't work on Windows. I think it was related to 
the zip library not being available to unarchive the OO documents. But 
my memory is fuzzy. Maybe Ingmar can refresh us on that?

Otherwise I'm fine with removing the check if it works for you.
