FYI: The attached patch was committed as follow-up to SVN Trunk (rev. 6179):

"Follow-up to test #12153: Added test cases for empty comparison in
globalVar condition"

A misbehaviour was reported in #12279 on the bugtracker but could not be
reproduced using these new test cases.
