The attached follow-up was committed to trunk in revision 6159.

The problem: this RFC introduced a new exception thrown when a task 
object could not be unserialized properly. This exception was not caught 
in a couple of places. Furthermore, when running from the command line, 
the faulty task would come up again and again as if it were indeed due 
to execution.

The solution: Catch the new exception where appropriate and display any 
necessary error messages. As for execution, the task is forcibly disabled.
