Hey Olly,

your patch had another problem when using the function "fixUniqueInPid".

The code had a "$GLOBALS['TCA']['columns']", which just doesn't work if 
you know the TCA :)

I commited the patch as a followup to the core.

See that old changelog around line 6500 for the problem, you'll see it 
real quick:
