Definitely +1 for a php-warning.

As long as we don't have a devlog core-ext we can't require it as a
default for TYPO3 installations. I think there are many TYPO3 sites
running without a devlog-extension enabled and they won't be informed
about this deprecated functions.
Would be nice to have a integrated log-module in the upcoming version
4.3 (and with this a basis for such information)..
