As saltedpasswords is on the roadmap IMHO this essential feature has to be  
added, too (if no core-dev gives his +1 today).

I've already reviewed v7 of this patch with +1 and in v8 only minor  
changes (esp. considering my remarks) were made.
So my +1 stays.
