now for the real issue:

please also keep the icons in PNG as that format offers a better quality 
than GIF. The trouble with IE has been fixed using JS. The only affected 
browser is IE6 anyways - which hopefully will die soon.

I prefer to keep the gain we get from transparent / alpha channel PNGs 
instead of doing extra work for a dieing browser.
