I agree. My point was that since the patch was already there and 
acceptable for 4.2, it seemed actually to be more effort to create a 
separate patch for 4.2 than applying the original patch straight away.

That being said, I think we have lost enough time with all this 
discussion. I have no particular sentimental attachment to this bug, 
just do what you want, you're the core team guy anyway. (no personal 
grudge, just a bit tired ;-) )
