just tested: yes, alt_main.php in 4.2 works with FF3. So I'd basically 
port the changes back to 4.1.7, too.

Although I fixed that issue for 4.2 I can't quite remember anymore what 
exactly caused the issue. However I think that moving the JS calls 
around was part of the fix.
