Problem:
a very simple but many people find this annoying, that the select cuts the 
text because it's too small

This happens whenever using icons in select, because the select auto-width 
is missing the padding for the icon
eg: the select for cType (Plugin)

Solution:
I added a class for all selects with icons and defined a min-width in CSS 
stylesheet (sry IE6)
