Masi told us that IE6 ignores the complete rule if it finds an attribute 
selector. So this shouldn't work, too. It seems that IE6 needs a 
complete duplicated block without the [type=...] part.

This duplicate could be added to:

./typo3/sysext/t3skin/stylesheets/ie6.css

which seems to have been created just for that reason (so we can drop it 
sometime in the future).
