I just reviewed that report and the patch, see bug tracker for my
conclusions.

The reported bug (#9676) is not a bug (it has always been like that),
but I acknowledged two bugs which should be fixed. I could try to
provide some patches soon, but cannot give an exact time frame. But as
they have been there since 4.2.0, I would't stop a 4.2.4 release because
of them.
