You forgot to the new extension pptx, pptm, ppsx and ppsm which are all
Powerpoint presentations of some kind (screen presentations with and
without macros). Otherwiese it's fine with me (also for 4.2), but ...

Please, let's switch to another scheme to use file icons. Simply
repeating the file extension in the icon is IMHO pointless, because

a) in the case of application files there can be more than one file
extension associated with an application (see above)

b) the icon has no additional information as in the BE the extension is
shown anyway

So I rather suggest to create the icons loosely like MIME types: a base
type and a subtype.

Some base type and their subtypes:

image: GIF, JPEG, TIFF
sound: WAV, MP3, OGG
word processor file: MS Word, OO.org Writer
spreadsheet: MS Excel, OO.org Calc

I would be content to have different icons for the base types. If I need
details I can check the extension of the filename.
