This new behavoir is very different from common behavior. Normally if you do potentially harming actions, such as delete, you must select an item. This is not just stupid programming requirement but a precaution against accidental clicks and possible errors. If this patch has effect, user may accidentally click on the remove icon and did not notice that item is removed. He will not pay attention because in other applications he has to select item first before removing it!

I am actually -1 to this feature because it introduces uncommon behavior and generally software should have the same behavior as other available software.
