Well, yes. I was wondering about it myself.

The patch was actually first developed on a 4.1.x install, so it's fine 
to apply it to that branch. I don't know about 4.0 though and have no 
install where to test it. However I don't think the 
t3lib_div::view_array() has changed in ages and it should apply fine.
