Hi Michael,

after carfully reading and testing the second patch it works fine and
seems to be okay. I tested all possibilies (preg, list, int, ...) on a
local test server with excelent results.
To the spaces in list (|): I think your initial approach is okay, we
don't need the preg_match/preg_quote here.
